In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s pangasius exports reached $1.2 billion. This is about 20% more than last year.

$200 million monthly average

VASEP (Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers) noted that the seasonal peak for sales is normally in the second half of the year, from August to December. As a monthly average of $200 million was already reached during the first six months, it is expected that Vietnamese pangasius exports will surpass $2 billion this year for the first time.

Pangasius prices have increased

The eight Mekong Delta provinces in Vietnam have farmed more than 800,000 metric tons of pangasius since January this year. The driving factor of the increased export value of Vietnamese pangasius is the raised price level for pangasius.
